530 Burns Gallery Announces 2020 Vision a Solo Painting Exhibit by Linda Richichi

Opening Jan. 24, 2020

530 Burns Gallery, located in Sarasota, Florida, is proud to present 2020 Vision, an exhibition

featuring oil and pastel paintings by Linda Richichi. The show runs from January 24 through

February 5, 2020. Richichi’s newest body of work explores an openness to her muse which

she defines as an unseen inner force that moves her to paint in an evolutionary way. Until

preparing for this exhibit, she thought her relationship with her muse was private and

personal. She now reveals a look into the events which inspired this work.

Richichi often asks herself a question prior to painting; “What would be good for me to see or

know that I can’t see yet?” An answer comes either in the painting itself or during the

drawing of a preparatory sketch beforehand. In her painting, The Connection, the answer

came in a moment of clarity when she painted a light-filled stripe that indicated a brighter

space of existence.

Though her paintings appear to be physical, idyllic landscapes or skyscapes, Richichi has

sought to capture the moment when an opening appears in the veil between the seen and

unseen worlds, inspiring a fresh perspective. A moment like this, preserved in paint, reminds

the viewer that revelation can come to anyone, although it’s fleeting and precious.

Richichi then wondered if she should add such a stripe to more of her paintings, including a

few that she had already finished. Returning to her studio the next morning a bit earlier than

usual, she was startled by what she saw. Several paintings had vertical, sunlit stripes, each in

an appropriate place on the painting. Was her muse helping her to see the pieces anew by

allowing strips of light from nearby windows to shine through the blinds, illuminating each

painting with a perfect vertical line? Or was it just an amazing coincidence?

Regardless, Richichi’s talent has lead her to national acclaim. Gallery owner Nikki Sedacca

says, “Linda’s recent appointment to Signature Status in the Pastel Society of America makes

representing her more exciting than ever. Her talent is limitless.”

The ethereal, profound, and transformative power of painting and more are explored in this

exhibition. The new paintings add another layer of complexity to Linda Richchi, who is

known for capturing color and energy when painting en plein air. A meet the artist Opening

Reception will be held on Friday, January 24th from 6 to 9PM. For more information about

the pieces that will be featured in the show, or to learn more about the gallery and Linda

Richichi, visit www.530burnsgallery.com.

Sky Lights, that earned a Richard McKinley Mentorship Award at the Pastel Society of America exhibit at the National Arts Club, will be included in this exhibit.

“E X P A N S E: LINDA RICHICHI
“E X P A N S E: Linda Richichi” will feature fine oil paintings by Sarasota’s Linda Richichi. The exhibition’s opening reception is Friday, February 9 from 6 to 9 pm with an artist meet and greet.

E X P A N S E is an in-depth look into the newest oil paintings by Linda Richichi. This exhibition will feature Richichi’s plein air paintings of Sarasota’s most awe-inspiring scenes. Working from her own paintings and studies in situ rather than photographs, Richichi’s larger works draw from the energy, color, and spirit of the landscape. Expanding and pushing the boundaries of classic plein air painting, Richichi crops specific elements of nature as a subject matter — sunlight dancing across clouds or waves calmly crashing against the sand. While remaining representational, these works are abstracted, and the focuses shifts to Richichi’s brilliant eye for color eye, playful brushstrokes, and texture from the palette knife.

After moving to Sarasota about three years ago and joining the 530 Burns Gallery roster of talented artists, Richichi has quickly become one of the gallery’s most sought-after artists and has spent the past two summers as the Gallery’s Artist in Residence. She is a current member of the Oil Painters of America and a signature member of the California Plein Air Painters, NY and International Plein Air Painters. Notably, in 2012, Richichi was voted as National Best Intuitive Artist from About.com (then a NY Times company).

Richichi feels she was always supposed to live in sunny Sarasota. Her commission work dazzles each client, as they receive the energy and spirit of a scene they love and cherish. Any piece by Richichi captures her delightful demnor and the free-spirit of each brushstroke.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

530 BURNS GALLERY ANNOUNCES ART EXHIBITION FEATURING SARASOTA-BASED ARTIST LINDA RICHICHI

“Summer Solo: Linda Richichi” Exhibition Opening Reception Friday, August 10, 6-8PM

Linda Richichi combines the logical and emotional mind, where details and realism collide with color and abstraction. This exhibition presents pastel and “plein-air” paintings by Sarasota-based artist Linda Richichi. This body of work features skies, seas, and frields from scenes around Sarasota and recent travels. In addition to these small works, the show presents two large works that were directly inspired by her plein-air studies. This exhibition highlights not only Linda’s technical skill, but also her imaginative reinvention what is in front of the eye, leaving some areas abstracted and careful attention to the use of color. 530 Burns Gallery will have an opening reception on Friday, August 10 from 6-8PM, and Linda will give a “plein-air” painting demo from 6-6:30PM underneath the Banyan tree between 530 Burns Gallery and Owen’s Fish Camp.

After graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from SUNY,  Richichi received a scholarship from the Pastel Society of America to attend the Art Students League in New York City.  Linda quickly found national acclaim as a portrait painter, but in 2001 she felt a calling for the wild. She turned to Plein Air painting, as she found that Mother Nature was the healing energy she need to recover from deeply resonating personal loss. Linda is a current member of the Oil Painters of America and a signature member of the California Plein Air Painters, NY and International Plein Air Painters.

Richichi was recently honored with  a Signature Set of Linda Richichi  "Color and Energy" Pastels from Jack Richeson Company. The set contains 80 pastels and local business Art and Frame describes the set: “the full spectrum of color flows over all of nature and this set is designed to give you vibrant pigments to capture this energy.” This has contributed to a fervent rediscovery of her passion for the medium, and she continues to explore its possibilities. Richichi also enjoys using pastel because its pigment remains true, creating a lasting bond between the space in which she paints and the paper.
